My first project of 2015 is the ‘Moraine Jacket’ (Interweave Knits Winter 2015).

What a gorgeous pattern! I love the wrap style and belt with the long vertical lines and the attractive contrast in the welted garter hem and cuff. The sweater looks so inviting to wear (and to hug), definitely a snuggle sweater on chilly days.

When I saw this sweater, I just loved the understated elegance of the Purl Dot stitch pattern. And it’s so easy! I was amazed after casting on, how quickly the texture works up. And a good thing since the body and fronts are worked on one circular needle. The main work went quickly and I’m already casting on for a sleeve.

I tried the lovely chocolate Fisherman’s Wool  but the darker color evened out the knit and purl contrast that makes this pattern texture so distinctive. What isn’t to love about this yarn: huge yardage for an unbeatable price, earthy undeyed wool colors, and best of all the high lanolin content. Its a great choice for this type of sweater that probably will be worn to ward off dampness.
